Sleeping bags have prolonged direct contact with skin. Chemical safety of the zipper is critical. Our zippers meet the highest standards for next-to-skin textiles:
Optical brighteners can migrate through skin contact, especially in humid conditions. We use natural nylon or eco-friendly dyes — no fluorescent whitening agents added.
Zipper tape, fixatives and coatings comply with textile formaldehyde limits (≤20mg/kg, non-detectable). No odor, no skin irritation.
Azo dyes are strictly prohibited. All colored components pass OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 testing — no carcinogenic aromatic amines released.
Sleeping bag zippers are typically 1.5–2.2m long. Long zippers are prone to fabric snagging (jamming) or tooth separation under tension (bursting). Both features below are mandatory:
A rigid nylon or polyester tape sewn alongside the zipper (width ≥8mm) physically blocks the lining or insulation from entering the teeth.
Anti-snag tape is essential for long sleeping bag zippers — dramatically reduces snagging.
Standard zippers may burst (teeth separate) when the user turns over or stretches the bag. Reinforced zippers feature: thicker coil tape, double-needle stitching, strengthened pin and box, increasing static crosswise pull strength by 30%+ to prevent bursting.
Technical specification: Reinforced #5 sleeping bag zipper achieves static crosswise pull strength ≥45kg (standard ≥35kg) — superior anti-burst performance.
The zipper completely separates at the bottom (like a jacket zipper), not closed-end. When both sliders are pulled to the end, the two sides detach fully — the sleeping bag opens flat into a blanket or quilt.

When feet get too warm, simply slide the bottom slider upward a few inches to create a foot vent — cool air stays at the foot end without chilling the upper body. Perfect temperature regulation.
Dual sliders allow opening from any position: top, middle or bottom. In summer, fully open the foot section; in winter, keep fully closed — adapts to different sleep habits.
Sliders are the most vulnerable part of a zipper. Premium sliders use heavy-duty zinc alloy, with spring fatigue tested ≥5,000 open-close cycles and reinforced pull tabs.
You can choose our company’s quality sliders, tested in the lab for more than 5,000 open-close cycles — ensuring years of reliable use.
Non-locking sliders can creep open during sleep due to body movement or fabric tension, letting in cold drafts. Auto-lock sliders engage a spring-loaded lock the moment the pull tab is released — completely prevents the slider from sliding open unintentionally, keeping you warm all night.
Use zippers to create modular sleeping bag systems, adding multi-functionality to your product line:
A mating zipper at the foot or middle section connects an extension panel. Convert a 170cm bag to 200cm+ — ideal for tall users or shared family use.
Left- and right-zip sleeping bags (mirror image) can be joined via side zippers (typically #8 or #10) to form a double sleeping bag. Requires separating open-end zippers with matching left/right pin and box.
A curved or straight zipper connects the hood to the main bag. Remove the hood when not needed — reduces weight or use as a separate pillow cover. Zipper should be hidden or taped to avoid facial contact.
