The difference between waterproof and airtight zippers
waterproof zippers achieve their waterproof function by adding special coatings or waterproof film layers. These coatings or layers can prevent water from penetrating the zipper, but waterproof zippers can only achieve splash-proof functionality and cannot guarantee that water cannot enter the interior.
Airtight zippers, on the other hand, refer to zippers that effectively prevent gas permeation. Through special designs, the gaps of the zipper can be sealed, preventing gas from entering the interior.
Waterproof zippers can only protect against rainwater in daily life and achieve splash-proof function. Their advantages are that they are cheap and lightweight, and they are commonly used in clothing and backpacks. Airtight zippers have higher sealing performance than waterproof zippers, but they are more expensive and mainly used in professional fields such as diving suits.
